The Capeture
A downloadable RetroApeGame
Description
“The Capeture” is a game developed by Cyb3rApes with an adventure based dynamic.
You will be controlling Felix through different levels with one objective in mind, getting back Mary.
History
The civilization has been taken over by the technology we’ve built, and your partner and you are running away.
That is until a cyber ape kidnapped your companion and changed your plans of hiding.
Armed with a handgun, you take control of Felix in the chase through the forest to get to Mary, your partner.
In this area you will find mines and fences that you must destroy or avoid
The trail will lead you to an old factory that is being taken over by the machines
The more you go in, the more of them there are. Most of these machines are crafted with heavy armour plates, rendering your gun useless.
In this area you will encounter three new enemies. The sentinel turret, the arachnoid and the rotatory. All of them will make you think twice about the route you’ve taken
Lastly, you will find the Central Hub, a place filled with machine activity and where Mary has been taken. You must find the way to get her!
The cyborg and the cyborg chamber are introduced in this area, facing you with a new type of danger. You can destroy them both
After all of this, you will find her, but it won’t be easy take her out of there, survive the waves of enemies and destroyed them all to free her up.
Controls
The game runs with the default key set for an Amstrad, being the following one:
Mechanics
There are a variety of mechanics, some of them are basic and others are more complex.
The basic ones consist on moving and shooting some of the entities on the map and going through levels when crossing the dark corridors on the map. Some of the entities won't be affected by your attacks as a way to have a constant danger
The advanced mechanics include the entities spawners, which will periodically spawn enemies until you destroy it, and the objective doors.
Sometimes you need a switch for opening the door, sometimes clearing the level. You must explore around the map.
Game can be set on easy, medium or hard, giving you 6, 3 or 1 life, respectively.
Entities
The Capture has implemented different entities, each one with his own behaviour. Let's see them all!
- Player: Felix, the character you will take control of. He moves, shoots and dies, so be careful with your surroundings.
- Mine: watch your step with this explosive trap. It can be remotedly detonated using your handgun.
- Fence: Why can't i continue? These bad boys might be the reason why! It can be destroyed.
- Rotatory sentinel: heavy armoured machine that guards a designated area. It can't be taken down so be careful.
- Arachnoid: small but lethal. This machine is an advanced version of the rotatory sentinel, which is able to shoot from both of its sides.
- Sentinel turret: stationary turret. It's bulletprof and has a high rate of fire.
- Cyborg: with only one objective, capture all living creature on its sight. It can be destroyed but be careful, they come in packs.
- Cyborg chamber: it will periodically deploy cyborgs. It's a heavy looking machine but has its flaws. With the right amount of bullets it can be destroyed.
- Mary' stasis chamber: your objective is to get to her. Hurry up to get her out of there, time is clicking. TIC TAC!
You can interact in some way with all of the above, but the game includes other elements for you to continue. These are the dark corridors, the switches and the objective doors (shown above). You must find them to continue through the campaign.
